A RETIRED schoolteacher from Hunmanby Gap faces prison after being convicted of deliberately setting fire to his home on two occasions.
John Soar, 80, was found guilty of two counts of arson, being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, following a six-day trial at York Crown Court.

Yesterday a jury of eight men and four woman delivered the unanimous verdict following more than three hours of deliberations.

Soar first set fire to his house in Gap Road on July 22 last year before driving into Hunmanby, where he made his presence known in a bid to provide himself with an alibi, the court heard. Neighbours
