SCARBOROUGH'S Harbour Bar has scooped more than £1,440 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The ice cream parlour in Sandside placed wreaths for the charity on a display outside and customers and passers-by made donations to the appeal.

Owner Giulian Alonzi said: “It’s marvellous generosity, especially when we’re living in an age where all charities are asking for badly needed funds.

“We’re very impressed with the way the general public support our soldiers past and present.”

Poppy Appeal organiser Beryl Anderson added: “It’s a fantastic amount and the support we get from the Harbour Bar not just this year but every year is tremendous.

“The way Giulian and his staff organise it with the wreaths and collecting the money is amazing.”
