A MALTON pensioner died following complications following a fall, an inquest heard.
Dorothy Waller, 81, was admitted to York Hospital with a fractured thigh bone on March 14 and received further treatment at her home in Langton Road after being discharged.

But she collapsed at home on April 26 and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, Norton Court heard.

A post-mortem examination carried out by Dr David Morgan, a consultant pathologist at Scarborough Hospital, revealed Mrs Waller died of a blood clot which developed due to deep vein thrombosis.

Coroner Michael Oakley said such complications were common following such an injury and recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.

He said: “This is due to the fact that pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis followed as a direct result of a previous fall she had sustained.”
